Our mission

Film i Väst is owned by the Region Västra Götaland, which gains both national and international visibility through the co-production of high-quality film and TV drama — works that are showcased in cinemas, at film festivals, and on TV and computer screens around the world.

Vision

Film i Väst aims to be the obvious choice for world-class film production and to deliver unforgettable stories to the audience.

Owner Directives

  • Film i Väst shall co-produce films and drama series with high artistic quality and audience potential that stand out on the national and international stage, and that achieve significant global distribution and reach.

  • The company shall maintain and develop its national and international position as a leading player in film production and provide international visibility to Västra Götaland.

  • The company's co-productions shall collectively reach and engage the residents of Västra Götaland, regardless of age, gender, and/or social background.

  • The company shall maintain and develop Västra Götaland's creative potential and infrastructure, as well as strengthen industry competence.

  • The company shall identify areas of development through collaboration with relevant industries.

  • The company shall operate in accordance with the mandate from the Cultural Board of Region Västra Götaland.

Purpose

Film i Väst, together with the professional film industry, shall co-produce films, drama series, and other formats within the audiovisual sector. Film i Väst shall also contribute to a modern and sustainable infrastructure in Västra Götaland by developing talent, skills, and facilities that attract the Swedish, Nordic, and European film industries.

Financing

Film i Väst is primarily financed by the Västra Götaland Region (VGR), but also by Trollhättan and Vänersborg, as well as revenue from co-productions.
