Synopsis

"Sundown" is about a wealthy British family vacationing in Acapulco, Mexico, until a distant cry for help interrupts their holiday. When a relative breaks up the family’s close bonds, unexpected tensions arise.

Production Facts

Michel Franco was born in Mexico City in 1979 and has taken Mexican cinema to a global audience. The films he has directed, written, and produced include "Chronic", which won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes in 2015, "Las Hijas de Abril", which won the Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2017, and "Después de Lucia", which won the top prize in Un Certain Regard in 2012. "Sundown" is his seventh film, and the predecessor "Nuevo Orden" was awarded the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival last year.

The lead roles are played by Tim Roth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Iazua Larios, Henry Goodman, Albertine Kotting, and Samuel Bottomley.
