Handling

The story of Kristina and Karl-Oskar Nilsson, who, together with their family, leave a poor Sweden in the 1850s and embark on a long and dangerous journey in the hope of finding a better life for their children in the foreign land of America. Based on Vilhelm Moberg's beloved and popular classic.

"The Emigrants" contains as much love as adventure, where the audience is taken on Kristina and Karl-Oskar's life-changing journey. It is also a story about Sweden, about us as Swedes, and a reminder of the deeply human things that drive us.
