Synopsis

"The Innocents" takes place during a sunny summer. But not everyone goes away on vacation. Four children get to know each other and explore the housing complex and the nearby woods together. Hidden from their parents’ watchful eyes, the children’s innocent play evolves into something else. Horrific things begin to happen.

Production Facts

"The Innocents" is a psychological thriller starring four children, written and directed by Eskil Vogt. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard section. It is the first time in ten years that a Norwegian film has been selected for that section.

In the leading roles we see four children aged 7–11 delivering outstanding performances in their first film: Rakel Lenora Fløttum, Alva Brynsmo Ramstad, Sam Ashraf, and Mina Yasmin Bremseth Asheim.

"The Innocents" is produced by Maria Ekerhovd at Mer Film, and co-produced with Zentropa Sweden (Lizette Jonjic), Snowglobe, BUFO, and Film i Väst. Parts of the post-production took place in Region Västra Götaland, at Zentropa Post.
