Comedy Queen

Sweden

Best Actress in a Leading Role · Guldbaggen · 2023

Handling

Sasha is about to turn 13 and dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian. She wants to make everyone laugh, especially her dad, who cries in the shower when he thinks no one hears. At home, everything reminds her of her mom, who is no longer alive, and behind her eyes, dangerous tears burn. But Sasha refuses to cry. In secret, she writes a list of everything she must do to survive the grief: shave her head, stop reading books, turn down the world's cutest puppy, and above all, become a Comedy Queen.
