Synopsis
"Godland" takes place in the late 19th century when a young Danish priest travels to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph the people there. But the deeper he goes into this unforgiving landscape, the further he strays from his original purpose, his mission, and his morals.
Production Facts
The Icelandic-Danish director and screenwriter Hlynur Pálmason's film "Godland" was selected for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is produced by Katrin Pors, Anton Máni Svansson, Eva Jakobsen, and Mikkel Jersin, Snowglobe, in collaboration with Join Motion Pictures and in co-production with Mimmi Spång, Garagefilm International, Maneki, and Film i Väst. The Göteborg-based companies CAN Film and Dupp from Karlsborg handle parts of the post-production.
Hlynur Pálmason had his breakthrough with "Winter Brothers" (2017) and "A White, White Day," which was selected for the Semaine de la Critique at Cannes and won two awards.
