Synopsis

"Triangle of Sadness" is a contemporary satire that begins in the fashion world’s elite through the model couple Carl and Yaya, continues on a luxury yacht with millionaires, friendly arms dealers, and a Marxist captain, and ends on a deserted island where hierarchies in the fight for survival are turned upside down.

Production Facts

Ruben Östlund has assembled an international cast with, among others, the British actor Harris Dickinson ("Beach Rats," "The King’s Man"), South African Charlbi Dean ("Spud," "Black Lightning"), and the three-time Oscar-nominated Woody Harrelson ("Three Billboards," "Zombieland") at the top. The cast also includes Danish actors Zlatko Buric and Vicki Berlin, as well as Swedes Henrik Dorsin and Arvin Kananian, Filipino Dolly De Leon, Germans Iris Berben and Sunnyi Melles, and Oliver Ford Davies ("Star Wars" Episodes I, II, and III) from the United Kingdom.

This is the fifth feature film that Film i Väst has co-produced with Ruben Östlund. Previous films include "The Square," "Turist," "Play," and "De ofrivilliga."

The film is produced by Plattform Produktion and co-produced with Film i Väst, Essential Films, Coproduction Office, SVT, BBC Films, Arte France Cinéma, and ZDF/Arte, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, Eurimages, BFI, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Danish Film Institute, Hamburg Film Fund, and the Nordic Film & TV Fund. Imperative Entertainment is the executive producer. The Danish co-producer is Per Damgaard Hansen for Coproduction Office APS. Global sales are handled by Philippe Bober’s Coproduction Office.

Parts of the post-production have taken place in Gothenburg, at Plattform Produktion and TINT.
