Synopsis
Per Fly ("Monica Z") directs "Hammarskjöld", a feature film about the Swedish UN Secretary-General who died under mysterious circumstances in Northern Rhodesia in 1961. A gripping political thriller and a portrait of the man Dag Hammarskjöld—his doubts, convictions, and growing desire for an ordinary life.
In 1961, Dag Hammarskjöld has one year left in his role as Secretary-General of the UN. After that, he plans to move to his house in Österlen and enjoy long-awaited freedom. But the Cold War is raging, and the hotspot is the Congo. Dag Hammarskjöld takes on the mission of negotiating peace and unity in the country. An impossible mission, according to many. A suicide mission, according to others.
