Synopsis
"Kalak" is about Jan, a family man and nurse, who tries to escape from himself after being sexually abused by his father as a teenager. He works in Greenland and longs to become part of the collectivist culture, literally trying to sleep his way into belonging.
Production Facts
Danish director and screenwriter Isabella Eklöf feature film "Kalak" is based on the award-winning autobiographical novel by Kim Leine, with a screenplay written by Isabella Eklöf, Kim Leine and Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen. The film was shot in Greenland and Denmark. Isabella Eklöf broke through internationally with "Holiday" (2018) and also co-wrote the screenplay for "Border" together with Ali Abbasi and John Ajvide Lindqvist, both co-produced with Film i Väst.
