Synopsis

The Norwegian blockbuster "The Arctic Convoy" is inspired by real events and tells the stories of some of the seafarers who, in the midst of World War II, delivered weapons via the Arctic Ocean to the Soviet Union, which had been attacked by Hitler's troops.

In the summer of 1941, Hitler's war machine seemed unstoppable. After conquering large parts of Europe, Germany invaded the Soviet Union. The remaining Allies were forced to contribute.

Convoys of cargo ships, filled to the brim with war materials, began the perilous journey to Murmansk and Archangelsk. Risking their lives, they set out on what came to be called “The world's worst sea voyage.” Ordinary sailors with no military experience suddenly found themselves face to face with the German forces in the icy Arctic waters.
