The Great Escaper

Great Britain

Synopsis

"The Great Escaper" is based on true events and portrays how the retired naval officer Bernard Jordan made headlines in 2014 when he escaped from his care home to take a ferry to Normandy to attend the 70th anniversary of D-Day. He brought only some savings and his passport, and during the search for him, his escape became front-page news. He returned home a hero and received over 3,000 birthday cards. The following year, in 2015, he passed away at the age of 90. He had then been married to his wife, Irene, for 60 years.
