The film follows Julie, a top-ranked player at an elite tennis academy. Her life revolves around the game she loves. When her coach is investigated and suddenly suspended, all club members are encouraged to speak up about what they know. But Julie chooses to remain silent…

Production Facts

Film i Väst’s co-production "Julie Keeps Quiet", directed by Leonardo van Dijl, was selected for the Semaine de la Critique section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The film was also Belgium’s official Oscar submission. Script writers: Leonardo van Dijl and Ruth Becquart.

The lead roles are played by Tessa Van den Broeck (Julie), Ruth Becquart (Liesbeth), Koen De Bouw (Tom), Claire Bodson (Sofie), and Laurent Caron (Jeremy).

Leonardo van Dijl is a screenwriter and director based in Belgium. His previous short film "Stephanie" (2020) was nominated for the Official Competition at Cannes, San Sebastian, and Toronto, and has been shown at over 150 festivals worldwide. "Julie Keeps Quiet" is his feature debut.
