Synopsis

Sweden, 2018. A mysterious syndrome affecting refugee children causes concern among doctors and politicians. Sergei and Natalia have been forced to flee their homeland after an attack that nearly killed Sergei. They have settled in Sweden with their two young daughters, waiting for the Migration Agency’s decision on their residence permit. They do their best to live a normal life. They work hard, send their children to a Swedish school, learn the language, submit to regular inspections from the authorities, and hope to one day become Swedish citizens. But when their application is rejected, their youngest daughter Katia collapses into a mysterious coma. Faced with a moral dilemma, their resilience is put to the test. Can they summon enough hope to save their daughters?

The leading roles are played by Chulpan Khamatova, Grigory Dobrygin, Naomi Lamp, Miroslava Pashutina, and Eleni Roussinou. Among the Swedish actors are Lena Endre, Johannes Kuhnke, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Anna Bjelkerud, Alicia Eriksson, and Sofia Pekkari.
