Synopsis
When the police discover the perpetrators, the gang leader’s mother is already hiding in a remote village in the Danube Delta, presumably to destroy the evidence. The story serves as a catalyst to illustrate the countless conflicts and decisions sometimes forced upon immigrants who are simply trying to find a way to coexist and be recognized in a constantly changing Europe, where one’s class, education, and culture are under continuous scrutiny.
Production Facts
"Traffic" is inspired by the true story of a 2012 heist, when famous paintings were stolen by a group of Eastern European migrants from the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam.
