Weird Elliot

Sweden

Synopsis

Retro-vlogger Elliot (45) is forced to move out of his apartment to an institutional nursing home. The contact with his parents was broken since childhood. When cleaning up the apartment Elliot finds an old videotape from the late eighties, with home video footage from a deserted house. The last image shows a stain from a decomposed body - from the size of it, probably from a little child. Elliot's focus, from the pain of losing his home, shifts to trying to solve the mystery.

Methodically he digs into the material looking for details and clues that can bring him closer to its origin and where it was shot. Eventually he finds the house, a deserted cottage in the deep woods in the countryside. He enters and finds the interior intact, but the stain surprisingly missing. Gradually he realizes it's his childhood home. Since no one seems to live there anymore he decides to move in, inadvertently being confronted with his own repressed memories.
