Göteborg Film Festival’s former leader, Mikael Fellenius will become the new CEO of Film i Väst on January 1st next year. He succeeds Tomas Eskilsson who in turn assumes a new role as Head of Strategy of the film fund, as previously announced.

Now it is announced that Mikael Fellenius will succeed Tomas Eskilsson as CEO of Film i Väst, Sweden’s leading regional film fund. Mikael Fellenius left his former position as CEO of Göteborg Film Festival, which he held from 2011 to April 2015, to shoulder the position as Head of Planning at Film i Väst, with special responsibility for the company’s external relations.

Film i Väst’s Board of Directors and its Chairman Magnus Berntsson have lead the recruitment process for a new CEO during the fall.

– Mikael Fellenius has extensive leadership experience as CEO of some of our region’s most important cultural institutions. He also combines valuable experience as a manager in marketing and finance, which strengthens our organization for the challenges our film region is facing, says Magnus Berntsson.

Further to his leadership of Göteborg Film Festival, Mikael Fellenius headed Gothenburg Wind Orchestra in 2007-2011 and has also held positions as Business Development manager and CFO of the Gothenburg Opera.

Mikael Fellenius holds an MBA from Gothenburg School of Economics and is also a trained musician at The Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg and the University of Cincinnati. He belonged to the Gothenburg Symphony’s ensemble during the years 1989-1994, as percussionist.
