Full house during Film i Väst’s talent show at Berlinale

2026-02-17

Last Sunday, around 250 people attended this year’s Film i Väst event at Berlinale, this time in the form of a curated “talent show”, where four industry professionals from across Europe presented concrete proposals for change inspired by the themes of the Film i Väst Analysis research project Public Film Funding at a Crossroads. The fourth and final report will be published later this year, and the event began with a keynote by Film i Väst Analysis Tomas Eskilsson.

The talents in the show, “The Film Industry’s Got Talent?”, were Anna Croneman, CEO of the Swedish Film Institute; Carlo Cresto-Dina, founder and producer at Tempesta; Juan Gordon, founder and producer at Morena Films; and Nataša Bučar, Managing Director of the Slovenian Film Centre.

After presenting their proposals, they received feedback from the jury, thereby creating a dynamic and forward-looking dialogue about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The expert jury consisted of Louise Vesth, producer at Zentropa; Susan Newman-Baudais, Executive Director of the Council of Europe’s Eurimages fund; and Mia Bays, Director of the BFI Film Fund. The event was hosted by AC Coppens from The Catalysts.
