Two more Co-Productions Selected for Cannes

Icelandic director and screenwriter Hlynur Pálmason will join Colombian filmmaker Simón Mesa Soto at the Cannes Film Festival, as their films The Love That Remains and Un Poeta have been selected to compete in the sections Cannes Première and Un Certain Regard. Both films are co-produced with Film i Väst.

Already confirmed co-productions include Eagles of the Republic by Tarik Saleh (Sweden), Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier (Norway), and The History of Sound by Oliver Hermanus (USA). All three are part of the Official Selection and will compete for the prestigious Palme d’Or.

Un Certain Regard is a kind of sister section to the Official Selection and showcases original and innovative films, often by younger or lesser-known directors.

“Having five co-productions in Cannes is a great achievement, and we wish them all the best of luck. It’s exciting to see five directors from five different countries, all with previous experience and success in Cannes — each with their own unique story. Such a broad international lineup is the result of the network we’ve built through many years of presence at festivals like Cannes,” says Kristina Börjeson, Head of Production at Film i Väst.
