Two nominations for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival

2025-12-09

When the nominations for the world’s largest short film festival, the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, were released, it became clear that two of Film i Väst’s co-productions are included. In the International Competition, Ida Melum’s "Ovary-Acting" is nominated, and in the Lab Competition—the category for productions with original forms of expression outside the ordinary—Axel Danielson & Maximilien Van Aertryck’s "Death of a Fantastic Machine" is nominated.

Clermont-Ferrand takes place between 30 January and 7 February 2026.

Ovary-Acting

While stuck at her sister’s baby shower a thirty-something woman is forced to decide whether she wants to have kids or not after unexpectedly giving birth to her reproductive organs.

"Ovary-Acting" is directed by Ida Melum, produced by Kjersti Greger (Klipp og Lim) and Michelle Brøndum (Jante Films), in co-production with Johan Edström (Apparat Filmproduktion AB) and Film i Väst.

Death of a Fantastic Machine

From the camera's invention as a tool of truth to today's AI-generated images, "Death of a Fantastic Machine" traces how economic incentives shaped what gets filmed and why. Using archival footage, the film explores the choices that transformed cameras from instruments of evidence into engines of engagement.

"Death of a Fantastic Machine" is directed and produced by Axel Danielson & Maximilien Van Aertryck, who also wrote the screenplay together with Mikel Cee Karlsson. "Death of a Fantastic Machine" is a co-production between Lion Hill Production, Plattform Produktion, Film i Väst, and SVT.
