World Premiere for Alina Marazzi’s "The Girl with the Leica" in Venice

Yesterday marked the opening of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, where Film i Väst’s co-production The Girl with the Leica, directed by Alina Marazzi, had its world premiere. The film was screened as the opening film of Orizzonti, the festival’s competitive section dedicated to innovative cinema and emerging international filmmaking voices.

Among those attending the premiere were director Alina Marazzi and actors Emilia Schüle, Aaron Altaras, Luna Wedler, and Lucas Englander. For more photos from the premiere, visit Film i Väst’s Instagram.

Synopsis

Paris, 14th July 1937. Before leaving for the Spanish front, Gerda Taro spends her last day with her partner Robert Capa and the friends with whom she fled Nazi Germany. Past and present blend in a waltz of poignant feelings and long goodbyes.

A passionate portrait of the first woman war photographer to die on the frontline.
