Five nominations for Sentimental Value at the European Film Awards

Joachim Trier’s "Sentimental Value", which won the Jury Prize at Cannes earlier this year and is Norway’s Oscar submission for Best International Feature Film, is nominated in five categories at the European Film Awards. "Sentimental Value" is nominated for Best European Film, Director, and Screenwriter. Stellan Skarsgård and Renate Reinsve are nominated for Best European Actor and Actress respectively for their roles in Sentimental Value. Mads Mikkelsen is also nominated for Best European Actor for his role in "The Last Viking".

"Sentimental Value" is directed by Joachim Trier, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Eskil Vogt, and is produced by Mer Film and Eye Eye Pictures in co-production with Film i Väst, Zentropa, Zentropa Sweden, MK Productions, Lumen Production, and Komplizen Film.

The 38th edition of the European Film Awards will take place on January 17, 2026, in Berlin. The nominations were selected from 44 shortlisted films, including five co-productions from Film i Väst.

In addition to Sentimental Value, these included "Mother" by Teona Strugar Mitevska, "Palestine 36" by Annemarie Jacir, "The Last Viking" by Anders Thomas Jensen, and "The Love That Remains" by Hlynur Pálmason. "O (Circle)" by Rúnar Rúnarsson was also previously shortlisted in the “Short Film – Prix Vimeo” category.
