Here are Film Väst’s co-productions at the Göteborg Film Festival

The Nordic region’s largest film festival is back. On January 23, the Göteborg Film Festival opens, and over 11 days it will showcase 266 films from 76 countries. Three Nordic co-productions are competing for the Best Nordic Dragon Award, and five international co-productions will have their Swedish premieres: Mona Fastvold’s "The Testament of Ann Lee", Teona Strugar Mitevska’s Mother, Oliver Hermanus’ "The History of Sound", Dylan Southern’s "The Thing With Feathers", and Simón Mesa Soto’s "A Poet".

The Nordic Competition is Göteborg Film Festival’s major Nordic contest. Among the eight nominated films, three are co-productions with Film Väst.

Swedish Shorts Competition - Startsladden

Startsladden is Sweden’s leading short film competition, where two of the eight nominated films are co-produced with Film Väst.

The winner receives the Dragon Award for Best Swedish Short, along with cash and equipment worth 425,000 SEK. The prize is presented by, among others, the Swedish Film Institute, Gothenburg Film Studios, and Film i Väst.

Nordic Honorary Dragon Award & Honorary Dragon Award

Every year, Göteborg Film Festival honors individuals whose work in film is artistically outstanding. This year, actor Noomi Rapace (Nordic Honorary Dragon Award) and director Agnieszka Holland (Honorary Dragon Award) are being recognized. During the festival, earlier films by and featuring Noomi Rapace and Agnieszka Holland will be screened, several of which were co-produced with Film Väst.
