Film i Väst hosted the premiere screening of the co-production "Eagles of the Republic" in Gothenburg, Sweden, last week. Before the screening, the film was introduced by Kristina Börjeson, Head of Production at Film i Väst, and the film’s producers: Unlimited Stories (Linus Stöhr Torell) and Apparaten (Linda Mutawi and Johan Lindström).
In "Eagles of the Republic" Egypt’s most adored actor, George Fahmy (Fares Fares) is pressured to star in a film commissioned by the highest authorities. He reluctantly accepts the role and finds himself thrown into the inner circle of power. Like a moth drawn to the flame he begins an affair with the mysterious wife of the general overseeing the film.
Following the screening, Tarik Saleh—writer and director of the film—took the stage for an engaging conversation with Kristina Börjeson, sharing insights and stories behind the production. The film had its Swedish theatrical premiere on November 17.
