Tomorrow, the Cannes Film Festival concludes with its closing ceremony and awards presentation, where Niki Lindroth von Bahr’s short film "The End" has the chance to become the first Swedish film ever to win the Short Film Palme d’Or — one of the film world’s most prestigious awards. The film has its world premiere at the festival today, Friday, May 22.
"The End" is a story about death, set in the sprawling world of a major airport. A plane has lost contact with the control tower, where the staff are too absorbed in a reality show to notice. The film features around 20 different characters, with voices performed by, among others, Alexander Skarsgård, Noomi Rapace, Tuva Novotny, and Denis Lavant.
