There have been fifteen Oscar nominations for Film i Väst’s co-production in the last seven years. And one win: Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round. On Sunday, March 12, it’s time for Academy Awards 2023. Swedish director Ruben Östlund is nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for his Triangle of Sadness. British actor Bill Nighy is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role in Oliver Hermanus’ Living, also nominated for Adapted Screenplay, based on a novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. Both films are co-produced by Film i Väst.

– Five nominations is incomparable! Ruben Östlund is definitely one of the most talented and successful in Swedish film history. We can be extra proud in our region, Västra Götaland, where both Triangle of Sadness and Living are filmed or postproduced. I will follow the gala directly from Dolby Theatre. I was in Los Angeles five years ago to follow Ruben Östlund and his Oscar nominated The Square. We wish the best for Ruben, Oliver and Bill, but also for Erik Hemmendorff, producer at Plattform Produktion, and Sean Wheelan at Filmgate Films who co-produced and made all the VFX on Living, says Mikael Fellenius, CEO of Film i Väst.
