Five Film i Väst co-productions are nominated or has won prizes at the European Film Awards 2021. Two nominations for Joachim Trier’s The Worst Person in the World, two for Valdimar Jóhannsson’s Lamb and one each for Ninja Thyberg’s Pleasure, Eskil Vogt’s The Innocents and Linda Hambäck’s The Ape Star. All shot and/or postproduced in region Västra Götaland in Sweden.
On the 11th of December 2021 the European Film Award gala will be held in Berlin. Already eight winners have been announced, two of them Film i Väst’s co-productions:
- European Sound 2021: Gisle Tveito & Gustaf Berger for The Innocents. Jury motivation: “Sound can create an atmosphere of its own: Shifting out from what feels like ordinary every-day life, the simple yet unique sound design in The Innocents increases tension and becomes haunting. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.”
- European Visual Effects 2021: Peter Hjorth & Fredrik Nord for Lamb. Jury motivation: “The excellent visual effects in Lamb create a magical realism which transports the audience into another dimension.”
Nominated Best European Animated Film:
- Linda Hambäck’s The Ape Star
Nominated European Actress:
- Renate Reinsve for The Worst Person in the World
Nominated Best Screenwriter:
- Eskil Vogt & Joachim Trier for The Worst Person in the World
There are also two nominations for the Euroepan Discovery 2021 – Prix Fipresci, an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards to a director for a first full-length feature film:
- Valdimar Jóhannson’s Lamb
- Ninja Thyberg’s Pleasure
Furthermore five co-productions were nominated for the European Film Selection:
