In August Norwegian director Joachim Trier began filming his hotly anticipated sixth feature film, Sentimental Value in Oslo and Strömstad in Sweden. Danish director Anders Thomas Jensen is together with a star-studded cast – Mads Mikkelsen, Nikolalj Lie Kaas and Sofie Gråbøl – preparing the filming of his upcoming dark comedy Back to Reality outside Göteborg, in Region Västra Götaland.

In Trier’s new film Sentimental Value Award-winning lead actress Renate Reinsve is joined by an international star-studded cast including Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning. Sentimental Value is set to premiere in 2025.

Sentimental Value is a portrait of a family in Oslo, the house they’ve lived in for generations, and of how the past has a way of resurfacing in unexpected ways. It follows acclaimed stage actress Nora (Reinsve) and her younger sister Agnes (Lilleaas) as their eccentric and charismatic father, Gustav (Skarsgård), suddenly steps back into their lives after a long absence. Once a renowned film director, Gustav looks to make his comeback and make amends with Nora by offering her the lead role in his next film. But Nora wants nothing to with her father or his film. The film is an intimate, poignant and often funny exploration of family, memories, and the reconcilatory power of art. Stellan Skarsgård plays Gustav, while Elle Fanning portrays an American movie star who comes to Oslo.

The film is produced by Maria Ekerhovd for Mer Film and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar for Eye Eye Pictures in Norway in co-production with among others Zentropa Sweden (Lizette Jonjic) and Film i Väst.
