Film i Väst’s co-production Julie Keeps Quiet by Belgian director Leonardo van Dijl will screen during the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. A drama revolving around a teenager’s passion for tennis while her coach is put under investgation. Produced by De Wereldvrede and co-produced by Hobab and Film i Väst. A part of the post production was made by Auditory and Tint in Region Västra Götaland.
Two of Film i Väst’s co-productions have previously been selected for the Official Competition at the Festival de Cannes: Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice and Magnus von Horn’s drama The Girl With The Needle. In addition, Norwegian director Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel’s debut Armand has been selected to take part in Un Certain Regard.
Synopsis: As the star player at an elite tennis academy, Julie’s life revolves around the game she loves. When her coach falls under investigation and is suddenly suspended, all of the club’s players are encouraged to speak up. But Julie decides to keep quiet…

Leonardo van Dijl is a writer and director based in Belgium. His latest short film Stephanie (2020) was selected for the Official Competition of Cannes, San Sebastian and TIFF as well as over 150 other film festivals where it received various national and international awards. Julie Keeps Quiet is his feature debut. It was co-written with Ruth Becquart.
