Mexican director Michel Franco’s Sundown has been selected for the main competition at the filmfestival in Venice. Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Tim Roth. Sundown is postproduced in Göteborg, Sweden, by Cloudberry Post and co-produced with CommonGround Pictures, Jonas Kellagher, and Film i Väst.

From writer-director Michel Franco (New Order) comes a simmering, suspenseful sharp jolt: Alice and Neil Bennett (Charlotte Gainsbourg, Tim Roth) are the core of a wealthy British family on vacation in Acapulco with younger members Colin and Alexa (Samuel Bottomley and Albertine Kotting) until a distant emergency cuts their trip short. When one relative disrupts the family’s tight-knit order, surprising tensions rise to the fore.
