Screen International, KFTV & Broadcasts together with Olsberg SPI have launched the Global Production Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding work in the fields of film and TV production around the world. The city of Trollhättan is together with Calgary, Sarajevo and Wellington nominated as City of Film, meanwhile Film i Väst has been nominated in three categories: Community Engagement, Film Commission Team Award and Studio of the Year. The prize ceremony will be held during the Cannes Film Festival.

Film i Väst has been established in Trollhättan since 1996 and co-produced more than 1 300 films and drama series, many of them in Trollhättan and Studio Fares. With such directors as Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg and Ruben Östlund and actresses like Björk, Kirsten Dunst and Trine Dyrholm.

-Being nominated for City of Film is really fantastic! It highlights Trollhättan as a distinguished film city and a leading one in Sweden. The film industry is an important part of our business sector, cooperating with the creative sector in a very positive way, says Peter Eriksson, chairman of the executive municipal board of Trollhättan.

Film i Väst have received three nominations:

  • Studio of the Year, also nominated are Garden Studios, Stage Fifty and Versa London Studio, all in UK.  Studio Fares is one of the biggest soundstages in northern Europé. Since January you also find Europe’s largest projector-based Virtual Production wall, 24 x 8 meters.
  • Film Commission Team Award.  Susanne Lundberg Ottosson and Tyler Reid, production advisers at Film i Väst, are nominated. Together with their colleagues Cattrine Fransson and Emil Andersson they help the production companies before, during and after a production in Västra Götaland. With assistance from the unique data base, www.filmservice.se, they can recommend regional suppliers, actors, film workers, extras and locations.
  • Community Impact Award. In the data base www.filmservice.se you find the Green register, special for all unemployed with a driving license, living in Västra Götaland. Here they can find jobs which can help them into the film industry.
